Christmas Activities: The Indoor Edition

We’ve given you ideas of fun for all the family over Christmas in an outdoor setting, but seeing as weather in Ireland isn’t the most reliable, it’s important to make alternatives. Even Christmas can need a Plan B!

Christmas Movie Time!

An old faithful, Christmas movies are one of the best ways to get into the festive spirit. Get some cosy Christmas blankets and snuggle down with some hot chocolates for the ultimate Christmas movie night!

Ready, Set, Bake!

Baking with the family is a great way to spend some extra special festive time together, as well as offering hours of amusement.

Cinnamon cookies are a keen favourite with us, grab some icing sugar and piping bags and get everyone decorating festive themed biscuits! These also make a cute gift for grandparents, or your kids school friends and teachers!

If you’re feeling ambitious, why not make and decorate a gingerbread house? Nothing says Christmas like gingerbread. You’ll have great fun decorating, but be careful - patience is key in assembling!

Get Crafty!

Arts and crafts is a great way to get everyone’s creative juices flowing. From wreaths, to cards, gifts for the family, there’s no end to what you can do once you get crafting!

You don’t need to be a keen crafter yourself, there are lots of amazing decorations you can make easily. We really love these amazing ideas for baubles, these really cute wreaths, and handmade cards.

Break Out The Board Games!

It can seem in this day and age that board games are almost a thing of the past. Kids are usually glued to a game console and phone. Board games are great all year round, but they always seem extra special around Christmas time! Rather than have little ones sit on computer games all day, why not break out some board games and get all the family having fun? Board games are also a great thing to add to a list to Santa. Jigsaws are also a great way to get everyone having fun and communicating, pick a festive themed one for an extra flair of Christmas!

Pen A Letter…

Speaking of gift ideas to add to a list to Santa, get your little ones to make and decorate their letters to Santa. Glitter, confetti, colours - anything you can think of can go into your letters to Santa, the more creative the better! If you’re feeling extra crafty you can make a letterbox especially for sending letters to the North Pole!

Writing letters to Santa is also a great opportunity for you to speak to your child about those less fortunate than they, who may not get presents over Christmas. Afterall, Christmas is all about giving.
