Homemade Gift Ideas!

Mammies love a good homemade gift from their little ones so we have some easy homemade gift ideas you and the kids can make! Or even if you have no little ones to help, your Mam will surely appreciate these creations!

Teacup Candle

This is such a cute idea, and it looks very fancy as well! You’ll need a nice, vintage teacup for this one so we recommend heading to a local thrift/antique or charity shop for this part! You will also need a candle making kit which will contain all the components needed to make your teacup candles! The good news is you’ll more than likely have ingredients left so any birthdays or special occasions you have coming up after Mother’s Day you have the perfect handmade gift ready to go!

Potpourri Pillows

This one is inspired by Logan Berry Handmade and requires a small bit of sewing but is relatively easy and be personalised for your Mum!

You will need:

  • 2 Squares of Fabric (whatever size you like)

  • Potpourri (IKEA stocks some for as little as €1.50)

  • Ribbon (Optional)

  1. Take a fabric in a print or colour you think your Mum will like, maybe her favourite colour. Cut into two equal squares and sew together inside out. Remember to leave a gap of about an inch to insert the filling.

  2. Turn your pillow inside out so that via the gap you left. Now, take your potpourri in a scent your Mum will love, and fill your pillow from the gap.

  3. Sew the opening closed to form a pillow.

  4. Personalise - add some ribbon or sew your Mum’s name or initials to the front!

Things To Do

If you would rather do something with your Mam/Stepmam/Granny to celebrate them on Mother’s Day then we have some lovely ideas on how you can treat your Mam!

Afternoon Tea

A classic, but always a good idea Afternoon Tea is a special treat for you and your Mum. Here is a list of Top Ten Places to have Afternoon Tea in Ireland. Our favourite has to be the Trinity City Hotel experience.
