You’re after a family holiday with a twist, or perhaps you’ve had a practice run at some Irish festivals and now you’re prepared to take on the continent when it comes to a family festival!

We’ve had a look at some of the family friendly festivals available throughout the UK and Europe.

The UK

The UK has many family themed festivals and it’s fairly easy to get to, with both plane and boat options available depending on where you’re travelling to. Our festival picks for the UK are:

Port Eliot Festival

What? Port Eliot Festival is jam packed with activities for parents and kids alike. You really will be spoily for choice when it comes to this festival. From health and wellbeing, to chefs, to performances there is something for everyone. When it comes to the kiddies, there’s a dedicated children’s area in the woods, with authors and illustrators, activities like swimming, and older kids can go kayaking or take part in some archery.

Where?  Port Eliot Festival takes place at St. Germans, Cornwall.

When? 25th-28th July. Camping options are available, you can find all ticket options here.

Camping In A Field

What?If the name doesn’t sell you on this festival we don’t know what will. Described as the “festival for grown up party people and their kids”, camping in a field is exactly what it says on the tin, except with a few music and arts performances thrown in! The festival is a not for profit social enterprise run by volunteers, so we imagine a lot of work and dedication has gone into its execution. There are plenty of free activities for adults and kids across science, theatre, dance, and loads more!

Where? Bentley Estate, East Sussex

When? 26th-28th of July. Camping options are available, you can find all ticket options here.

Colours of Ostrava

What? The Colours of Ostrava festival doesn’t subscribe to any one genre, so not matter your music taste you’ll more than likely find something that suits you among its acts. The festival is an independent, and offers as much for kids as adults with a children’s stage and babysitting! There are dance and sport workshops, balloon artists and face painting - every child’s dream!

Where? Dolní oblast Vítkovice, Ostrava, Czech Republic

When? 17th-20th July, camping is available. Info on tickets can be found here.

Sziget Festival

Sziget Festival is a music festival with performing arts, activities and talks making it very versatile. Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, and Kodaline are only some of the world class acts performing. There are plenty of dance and acrobat performers, as well as talks on issues affecting today’s society. The festival is very kid friendly, with children under 11 being given free entry. There family camping areas also provided.
